Introduction
In an architectural challenge that blended history, innovation, and technical complexity, Studio Faushen Design had the honor of participating in the renovation of a notable Victorian residence in San Francisco. Under the project management of Fausto, our studio collaborated on a work that spanned a year, preserving the historical essence of the structure while incorporating modern innovations. This article not only celebrates the triumph of the project as a whole, but especially highlights Fausto’s contribution as project manager, coordinating a diverse team of 36 professionals to bring this vision to life.
The Project’s History and Value
Built over a century ago, this Victorian residence is a testament to the craftsmanship and design of the era. With its Queen Anne-style tower and dark grey façade, the house stands out as a historical landmark. The project began with significant responsibility: maintaining the structural and aesthetic integrity of the building.
Challenges and Solutions
One of the primary challenges was the restoration of the Redwood timber structures, which had supported the house for over 120 years. We reinforced the exposed beams, preserving their function and integrating them into the modern design. Another complex task was managing the renovation and restructuring of such an old building, ensuring that each change complied with conservation standards.
Process and Work
Under the leadership of Fausto, our Project Manager, we meticulously worked on reconstructing and repairing the old structures. We removed walls to create more open spaces and added modern elements without compromising the Victorian style. A team of 36 professionals worked in unison, ensuring that every detail was executed with precision.
The Outcome
The renovation breathed new life into the residence. The interior spaces now flow harmoniously, offering comfort and functionality for modern living, while the exterior maintains its historical charm. The exposed structural beams have become a design feature, elegantly blending the old with the new.

The Victorian residence in San Francisco is not just a building; it’s a legacy that breathes and evolves, reflecting the past and embracing the future.
